Church Meeting PlannerPlan with purpose

COUNCIL MEETINGS

An agenda for council that is ready before the meeting starts.

Ward council, bishopric meeting, and presidency meeting each get their own agenda, their own length, and their own record of who took part. Items carry over instead of being remembered by whoever kept the notes.

Church Meeting Planner is made for bishoprics, branch presidencies, and the clerks and secretaries who plan with them, in wards and branches of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is an independent tool, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Church.

Councils are not sacrament meetings

Their own agenda templates

A council agenda is not a Sunday agenda. Build the shape your council actually uses — a spiritual thought, business items, assignments, a closing prayer — and save it as a template. A thirty-minute bishopric meeting and a ninety-minute council can each have their own.

Their own rotation

Asking someone to give the spiritual thought at council does not affect anyone’s rotation for speaking in sacrament meeting, and it never will. Each kind of meeting keeps a separate record, so both rotations stay fair on their own terms.

More than one meeting on a day

Bishopric meeting at seven and council at eight on the same morning is normal, and so is a baptism the same afternoon. Each is its own meeting with its own time and agenda.

Keeping a record without keeping minutes

Business items stay private

Anything written as a business item or in leadership notes stays with your planning team. It is never included on a shared link or a printed public agenda, whatever the sharing setting says.

Councils can be closed entirely

Each kind of meeting decides whether its agendas may ever be shared outside the planning circle. New kinds of meetings start private, so a council agenda cannot be shared by accident. Marking a kind of meeting private also stops links already issued from working.

Who took part, without a transcript

The planner records who was assigned what and whether it happened. It does not keep minutes, and it is not the place for confidential discussion about people.

Planning the rest of it too

Sacrament meeting, ward conference, and baptisms plan the same way, sharing one set of people and one place to look.
